GENERALLY RECOGNISED ACCOUNTING PRACTICE (GRAP)

CUSTOMISED FOR FINANCIERS

Duration:  2 Days

Overview

The focus of this course is on the provision of training on Generally Recognised Accounting Principles (GRAP) applicable to Public Sector Entities in South Africa, with specific focus on Municipalities. The focus is not on training the participants on how to compile financial statements, but on how to interpret the financial statements (financial ratios) against the background of GRAP. Therefore, the aim is not to provide a course on accounting but rather an understanding of the implications of accounting principles on the financial analysis.

What to Expect from the Course?

  • Interpret the financial results as recorded in the financial statements for the purpose of credit assessments and decisions making,

  • Enable participants to understand the potential gaps in information needs as required for financial reporting in the Financial Statements in terms of GRAP and the information needs for performing credit assessments and decisions,
  • Open discussion on matters where participants may have different interpretations.
